Your community is unique and we recognize that. We’ve updated the self-service Parking Attendant with your needs in mind. You can now have multiple parking registration options, or policies, to fit your community’s parking rules.
Here’s a look at some examples of custom policies:
- Let’s say you offer a set amount of complimentary guest parking for each unit but want to offer paid parking for anything in addition to that time. You now have the ability to offer both free and paid parking customized into your public Parking Attendant URL.
- You have a fitness center and allow non-residents to utilize it. A typical visitor can register to park for up to 24 hours. Visitors of the fitness center are allowed 2 hours of parking. A regular guest will register under “Guest” while the fitness center visitor can register under a separate parking policy, making it easy to track gym traffic.
- On weekends your community offers paid guest parking for visitors of nearby retail shops or restaurants.
How Policies Work
Successfully registering to park requires meeting policy parameters. Every parking space should have a policy attached to it. These policies are essential for issuing parking permits.
To further explain, let’s look at the bigger picture. In order to park in each space, one must fill the requirements of where, when, who, and how.
The where is the physical location. All spaces can be identified by what kind of parking they allow for (guest, resident, etc.). As part of this, in your public Parking Attendant, all designated guest spaces should fall under the label Guest. Likewise, designated resident spaces are labeled based on permit type such as “garage”.
Where someone is trying to park and the type of space they’re parking in is the most important part of registering permits. Next, there’s the when.
Typically, resident spaces allow for parking at any time and activated Smart Decals give them guaranteed resident parking.
With pay-to-park and guest parking, there are generally limits as to how long one can park. These limits are customized by you based on your community’s rules. The next parameter is identifying who is parking in the space.
Who can park in your lot or garage? That’s up to you, but generally, that includes residents with registered permits, staff, approved guests, maintenance, and future residents can park. This can be identified by the separate policies for common parking instances such as guest and resident.
Finally, the last parameter to fill each parking space’s policy is how.
The how identifies what type of access one has to park in a space. Smart Decals give residents access to park in resident spaces. For example, residents with red permits may park in open parking, and residents with green permits must park in their specific carport or garage space.
For guests, electronic registration via the public Parking Attendant grants guests the how to park in a guest space.
